Facts & Figures - Speed

If you're driving at 35 mph you're twice as likely to kill someone as you are if you are driving at 30 mph.

Speed limits

Remember the Speed limit is NOT always the appropriate speed for the conditions or environment you are driving through

You can still be driving too fast within the legal speed limits!

If you are driving past a school at 3.30 PM 30 mph is likely to be too fast.

20 mph Speed limits are becoming more common in these and other built up areas. It does and will save lives

What is the 2 second rule

Leaving a safe gap between you and the vehicle in front is called 'the 2 second rule'.

The good thing about the '2-second rule' is it ensures you keep the correct following distance, no matter what speed you are travelling at.

If it is raining or the road surface is wet and slippery, increase your following distance to 4 seconds.
