• There were 169 child fatalities - 3 more than in 2005
• The combined number of children killed or seriously injured was 3294 - 178 fewer than in 2005
• Serious injuries were 27872 - Significantly down on 2005
• Pedal cyclist injuries were at 16,196
• 23,326 motorcyclists were injured, of which 599 were killed. This latter statistic represented an increase of 30 on 2005 statistics. 5,885 were seriously injured
